The IJsselhoeve is a farm where people live in a Christian community to be hospitable and supportive towards all the people who come there. They organize events like open community dinners and work days. They asked me to make this mural to show what they value in this community and to show their belief in their actions. It is a conversation starter, so I wanted it to be diverse. All kinds of people can see a detail in the painting and have questions about it. Also the questions can easily lead to surface level, but also in-depth conversations. I wanted to incorporate the spatial features of this farm and I made the people anonymous, because all the people who live and serve there come and go. There are also quite some Biblical references incorporated in the illustration.
